Celeste Adams correspondence files, 1980-1993.

The chronological correspondence files contain correspondence that documents the establishment of the department of Oriental (Asian) Art, particularly through correspondence with dealers concerning acquisitions. The files also contain inquiries from the public concerning Asian art and artifacts and correspondence concerning consultants, loans, exhibitions, and setting up the new office. The interdepartmental correspondence includes much correspondence on the selection of an architect for the Audrey Jones Beck Building and the design and construction of the donor wall as well as discussion as to the future direction of the MFAH Bulletin. The correspondence with art dealers is divided by geographic location and then by specialization and includes a list of dealers in each as well as correspondence. The correspondence includes catalogues and offers of art.
